When the bump is still just a hint, the story often begins at its most beautiful.

Right before Christmas, I got another call where you can hear the excitement in the very first second. Mona and Nico are expecting, and they wanted to surprise their loved ones at Christmas with the news. Not just with words, but with something you can hold in your hands. Something that lasts. They wanted to gift photos: of the two of them, their excitement, and that tiny little bump that you can only just begin to see.
And that is exactly what I love about early maternity photos. It’s not about how big the bump is. It’s about the moment you realize: something new is beginning. You’re still in the middle of everyday life, maybe still careful about who you tell, maybe still full of questions. But inside you, this huge feeling is already growing. These are often the photos that move you the most later on, because they bring you right back: to the beginning.
Why Maternity Photos Are So Meaningful Early in Pregnancy
A lot of couples think maternity photos only make sense once the bump is clearly visible. But early pregnancy photos have a magic all their own. You may not see the change in a big, obvious way yet, but you feel it. And that is exactly what we capture: your connection, your hands, your looks, that small smile that says, “we know something that’s about to change our lives.”
So if you’re thinking, “but you can barely see anything on me yet,” perfect. That’s when it becomes especially intimate and personal. You get images that don’t feel like a show, but like real closeness. And you can share your news with family and friends in a way that truly hits home.

A crisp morning, sun on your skin, and frost across the fields
We met on a beautiful, sunny morning. Frost still covered the grass, dusting the landscape like powdered sugar. That mix of cool clarity and warm light is a dream for photos. Everything feels fresh and bright, yet still incredibly atmospheric. It’s the kind of setting where you don’t need much. You show up, and the light does the rest.
To help you feel confident, I’ll guide you through the session. No stiff posing, no uncertainty. You’ll get simple prompts, plus moments in between to just be with each other. That’s how photos are created that look natural and feel that way, too.
Two Sessions in One: Engagement Photos and the Very First Maternity Images
At one of my favorite locations, we did two sessions in one for these two: they still had an engagement shoot to check off. Mona and Nico had originally planned to be married already, but COVID shifted a lot. You might know that feeling: plans you were so excited about suddenly get rearranged.
All the more meaningful to capture that engagement energy now, not as a “replacement,” but as a real chapter of their story. And right after, we seamlessly moved into their very first maternity photos. That transition is often especially powerful: first the “yes” to each other, then the “yes” to a new life that’s just beginning.
So you don’t end up with just one photo series, but a small story: your relationship, your anticipation, your future in images. And that’s the kind of gift that isn’t just something you hand over at Christmas, it’s something you truly feel.

Here’s how your session stays relaxed: planning, outfits, and a process you can trust
If you’re still in the early stages, a clear process helps the most. You don’t have to overthink what to do. You arrive, and we get started. When it comes to outfits, less is often more. Soft, harmonious colors that fit the scenery feel timeless. If you’d like, we’ll share styling tips so you feel great in what you’re wearing and everything looks cohesive in your photos.
And most importantly: you don’t have to pretend. You don’t have to be “perfect.” You just have to be you. I’ll take care of the rest with experience and an eye for what’s happening between the two of you.
Maybe this is your way of sharing the news
